Kenyan climber dies on Everest, Sherpa guide missing

KATHMANDU, May 25:A Kenyan climber who went missing on Mount Everest during the spring climbing season was found dead on Thursday, according to Khim Lal Gautam, field office chief of the base camp's Department of Tourism.

The search and rescue team found the body of 40-year-old Cheruiyot Kirui a few meters below the peak.

"The rescue team has recovered Kirui's dead body." "His guide, however, is missing," Gautam stated. 

The Kenyan climber and his Nepalese guide, Nawang Sherpa, were reported missing on Tuesday.
