Miss Universe Nepal 2024 registration begins
KATHMANDU:Registration for the beauty pageant 'Miss Universe Nepal 2024' begins May 14. The organizer, Global Glamour Venture, in partnership with the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), announced the pageant application during a press conference held at The Soaltee Kathmandu on Monday. The theme for the 5th iteration of Miss Universe is "Perfect You."
Registrations are open on Khalti, the Miss Universe's official website, and social media platforms, for women older than 18 years old Registrations are open on Khalti app, the Miss Universe's official website, and social media platforms, for women older than 18 years old who have completed Higher Secondary Education or Intermediate Level are eligible to participate in the competition. There won’t be any other restrictions like height, weight, and marital status. Similarly, besides Nepali participants, Miss Universe is also accepting Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) participants.
Ms. Sangita Puri, National Director of Miss Universe Nepal 2024, said acknowledged the work of previous organizers and emphasized that "We are all perfect in our own way." She informed us that registrations would be open until June 15th and also announced that the reigning Miss Universe 2024, Sheynnis Palacios, would be joining the finals as a judge on August 31st. The winner will then go on to compete in the world finals in Mexico.
Hikmat Singh Ayer, Senior Director of NTB, reiterated NTB's support for the event, highlighting their involvement since 2009 and emphasizing the event's role in promoting Nepal internationally and attracting tourists. He encouraged participation from NRN women, stressing their role in advancing Nepal's global presence. He also commended how women from all 7 provinces were participating.
Sabi Puri, CEO of De Cosmo with 5 years in the beauty field, emphasized the platform's aim to allow the dreams and aspirations of women to flourish, empowering a diverse group of change-makers in Nepal.
Former Miss Universe Nepal 2021, Sujita Basnet, highlighted how pageantry grooming helped her and emphasized the importance of inner beauty and confidence. She highlighted how Miss Universe is the only title that allows NRNs like her to compete and how it triggered her return to Nepal.
National choreographer Dikpal Karki, despite being a man on a platform for women, expressed pride in contributing to creating great female leaders. Mentor Indira Joshi discussed the judgmental attitudes towards self-care in Nepal and praised Miss Universe's inclusivity. International image consultant Alexander Gonzales emphasized his goal to train and inspire women to showcase their inner beauty to the universe.
