Chhimbu and Koto Bhir in Manang to become 'rock climbing' destinations
POKHARA, May 09:Chhimbu and Koto Bhir, in Manang's Chame Rural Municipality, will be developed as rock climbing locations along the Annapurna Trail.
The rock climbing has been tested with the financial support of the Nepal Tourism Board Gandaki Province, the Nepal Mountaineering Association Gandaki Province, and the specific technical cooperation of French nationals Ludovic Giambiasi and Ludivine Poncelet.
Shes Kanta Sharma, former president of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, Gandaki Province, stated at a press conference in Pokhara that from April 21st to May 3rd, French nationals provided technical support for the construction of a rock climbing wall, and local Pancha Maya Tamang and Luckme Syangden Tamang assisted with the work.
He expressed his belief that these two Bhir can be used as tourist attractions by practicing rock climbing, making them suitable locations for mountain climbing. Gandaki Province Tourism Secretary Kuman Singh Gurung stated that these two locations will be transformed into a new rock climbing attraction.
Nabin Pokhrel, the head of the Nepal Tourism Board's Gandaki Province Office, believes that allowing rock climbing will assist to extend tourists' stays.
French climbers Ludovic Giambiasi and Ludivine Poncelet shed light on the sport's worldwide status as well as its local possibilities.
In the program, Bikash Gurung, President of the Nepal Mountaineering Association Gandaki Province, Secretary Manshanta Ghimire, Pomnarayan Shrestha, President of the Pokhara Tourism Council, and others discussed the feasibility of rock climbing in Nepal.
