Govt urged to request agreement on direct flights from Bhairahawa to Qatar

KATHMANDU, April 23:On the occasion of the Emir of Qatar's visit to Nepal, it has been urged that the initiative be taken for Qatar Airways' flight operation agreement from Gautam Budh International Airport in Bhairahawa.

Even though the airport has been inaugurated, economic activity has not increased because it is still not fully functioning.

Thakur Kumar Shrestha, president of the Siddharth Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has demanded that the subject of the Bhairahawa-Qatar air trip be prioritized in bilateral conversations during the Emir of Qatar's visit.

"The arrival of Qatar's emir may provide an opportunity to fly from Bhairawa on Qatar Airways, the country's national flag carrier. As a result, we suggest that the government prioritize this problem and take the initiative for the Bhairahawa-Doha flight," Shrestha stated.

Chandra Prakash Shrestha, President of Siddharth Hotel Association and a board member of Hotel Association Nepal (HAN), has demanded that the government provide an air route from Bhairahawa to Qatar during the Emir's visit. According to Shrestha, a Bhairahawa-Qatar flight will boost private sector hopes, improve economic activity in the Bhairahwa region, and help the country tremendously.
