Jufal Airport reopens after 53-day closure for runway upgrade
KATHMANDU, April 21:Jufal Airport in Dolpa has resumed operations after a 53-day closure for runway repairs.
Bir Prasad Shahi, an engineer with the Civil Aviation Authority, stated that the airport was temporarily closed to allow for the upgrading of its 185-meter-long runway, which cost Rs 60 million, inclusive of VAT.
This morning, a Tara Air flight from Nepalgunj landed in Jufal, indicating that services have been restored.
The previous state of the runway, in disrepair, had posed safety concerns for travelers.
Jufal Airport is the principal aviation center in Dolpa, Karnali Province, providing a key lifeline to the region, which is the country's largest district.
