Police patrol team interacts with tourists at Everest base camp

SOLUKHUMBU, April 17:District Police Office Solukhumbu has visited the base camp of the world's highest peak, Everest, and interacted with the tourists.

The police patrol, led by District Police Office Chief and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dwarika Prasad Ghimire, arrived at the base camp on Monday and interacted  peace and security with the tourists.

District Police Chief Ghimire and Assistant Chief District Officer Saroj Aryal, along with the crew, arrived at the base camp and requested that tourists notify them if there was a shortage of security. The base camp, located at an elevation of 5,364 meters, is now packed with domestic and foreign tourists. DSP Ghimire stated that the base camp was patrolled when the number of tourists increased.

Anil Mishra, police inspector of the district police office, said that police officers from the temporary police station Dingbuche Solukhumbu, led by DSP Ghimire, had been mobilized in the region.

There are no police stations above Dingboche, which sits at an elevation of 4,410 meters in the Everest region. As a result, tourists may feel unsafe, therefore we ran an awareness-raising campaign regarding peace and security via patrols," he stated.

DSP Ghimire stated that since the mountain climbing season began, the number of foreign and local tourists in the Everest region has increased.

He stated that the patrol crew was activated and interacted to ensure security and provide information about security precautions to be done in the event of any discomfort.
