Motorboats will operate in Marsyangdi Reservoir from April 14
KATHMANDU, April 11:Botebora, a motorboat service provider, will operate boats at the Marsyangdi hydropower project reservoir on Prithvi Highway.
Bishnu Dhakal, the company's owner, stated that the motorboats will be operational beginning with April 14.
On December 25th, Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality issued a call for tenders for the operation of motorboats in the Marsyangdi hydroelectric power reservoir.
The rural municipality accepted Botebora's proposal and has already approved to motorboat operations.
Shukar Chuman, Chairman of the Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality, announced that Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur Basnet will inaugurate the motorboat service on April 14th.
Dhakal, the owner, stated that motorboats will begin operating in the reservoir immediately, with a one-crore rupee investment.
It has been stated that two motorboats named Agni and Fishtail, built by Nepal Ship and Boat Building, Nepal's first and largest speedboat builder, will be used.
The company believes that by operating motorboats, Marsyangdi can be established as a tourism attraction for both domestic and international visitors.
According to Shukar Chuman, Chairman of Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality, because the reservoir is close to the famed religious site Alkadevi, motorboats can draw religious tourists as well.
He also stated that tourists traveling through the Prithvi Highway can be attracted to motorboats.
The company plans to invest an extra 30 million rupees in structures on the reservoir's banks, including a 'beach café', floating deck, river perspective, bathrooms, and a motorboat servicing facility.
He stated that the company, which previously provided motorboat services to tourists at Nepalgunj's water park, Chitwan's Narayanghat and Devghat, and Sarlahi's Bharattaal, intends to shortly debut motorboats at Surkhet's Bulbule Lake.
Different costs have been set based on the amount of time it takes to travel by motorboat. According to the company, a motorboat ride lasting 6 to 8 minutes costs 250 rupees per person, 10 to 12 minutes costs 500 rupees per person, and 15 to 20 minutes costs 1000 rupees per person.
Botebora motorboat station may be reached after traveling 14 kilometers from Muglin to Pokhara and 10 kilometers from Dumre Bazar to Kathmandu.
The station is located three kilometers from Aanbukhaireni. Public transportation is widely accessible on this route, and parking facilities are also available if you drive your own vehicle.
