Global IME Bank signed an agreement with GIZ Nepal to promote electric public transportation
KATHMANDU:Global IME Bank has agreed to invest in electric public transportation in Nepal in collaboration with GIZ, a German government-owned organization.
GIZ is collaborating with the Nepalese government's Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport on the project 'Nepal for long-term electric transport', which is funded by the Mitigation Action Facility.
The bank has stated that it will invest in electric public transportation to promote the usage of electric automobiles in Nepal.
The project will expand the usage of electric vehicles in public transportation, consume more domestically produced electricity, and contribute to a cleaner environment.
Furthermore, the bank predicts that the number of electric vehicles in public transportation will increase, allowing more people to travel, reducing the consumption of petroleum products, and reducing environmental pollution generated by vehicles.
To promote electric vehicles, the bank has been offering low-interest loans for personal vehicles.
The bank operates over 1,100 service centers, which include 354 branch offices, 379 ATMs, 277 branchless banking services, 67 extension and revenue collection counters, and three international representative offices.
