Parliamentary committee seeks clarity from NAC on narrow body aircraft procurement
KATHMANDU, March 03:The Parliamentary Committee has directed the Nepal Airlines Corporation to provide an unambiguous reply within 15 days about the narrow-body aircraft procurement process.
This instruction was delivered to the NAC during a meeting of the House of Representatives' International Relations and Tourism Committee on Monday.
Chairman of the committee, Raj Kishor Yadav, instructed the NAC to submit a clear answer so that the committee can believe that the narrow-body aircraft procurement process was not a corrupt act.
He stated that the committee will form a subcommittee to explore narrow-body aircraft.
Chairman Yadav warned that if the committee is not convinced that the corruption was caused by circumstances, additional action will be required. He stated that there must be no fraud in the narrow-body aircraft purchase process within two weeks.
He also asked the corporation to present the business plan created following the purchase of the aircraft.
He stated that the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) must come together to be removed from the European Union's blacklist.
