Air Asia prepares to fly again in Nepal

KATHMANDU, April 01:Air Asia is prepared to resume flights to Nepal.

The airline had previously halted the flight after failed to pay the required fee for using Tribhuvan International Airport's services.

Air Asia's flights to Nepal have been halted for the past four years. However, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) reports that this airline has begun to plan regular flights. Air Asia dues Rs 24 crore to the CAAN.

According to Jagannath Niraula, the CAAN's information officer, a bank guarantee has been obtained, and monthly installments are now being paid at a rate of one crore and 1.5 million rupees. Air Asia has already paid for the first month's installment.

"The arrears have already begun to be paid. This is the preliminary preparation for the flight," he stated. "Now Air Asia is making a comeback soon."

Air Asia began commercial flights to Nepal in 2013 AD. Prior to its closure, the airline operated one flight every day.
