KATHMANDU, Sep 17:Nepal Airlines corporation  (NAC)' narrow-body 9N-AKX aircraft, which has been grounded for almost three months, will be sent to Israel for engine repair.

According to Nepal Airlines spokesperson Ramesh Paudel, an engine repair lease deal was signed with MRO company Israel Aerospace Industries for the engine repair of this aircraft.

According to the same agreement, the MRO company has granted a slot on September 18, and the jet will fly to Israel at 11:30 pm on Sunday.

With only four cycles remained for maintenance, this aircraft was grounded. After repairs, this aircraftwill return to Kathmandu on September 22, 2023. According to Paudel, the tender was called on June 12, 2023, with a 45-day deadline.

According to NAC sources that one and a half billion rupees have been spent on the repair of these aircraft and two and a half billion rupees have been lost due to flight issue.

As a result, a deal was reached with the MRO company. Because the plane was grounded for so long, NAC lost millions of dollars.

NAC, which has a total of four aircrafts, is currently operating international flights with only 3 planes.

The NAC has accused the criticism that the aircraft has been grounded for a long time and is losing income, without trying to understand the reality and not based on the objective reality.
