Partnerships between industries and universities will contribute to skilled manpower development: Prez Dhakal

KATHMANDU, August 7: Chandra Prasad Dhakal, president of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), has laid emphasis on partnerships between the industry and the universities that will contribute to research, innovation, and the development of skilled manpower in the country.

Addressing a program organized by Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology on Monday, Dhakal said that the federation is ready to partner with the universities dedicated to higher education studies and research in the field of science and technology.

“There are challenges in the industry business sector. For the solution of such challenges, collaboration between the FNCCI and the University will definitely open a new way and this will inspire other sectors for partnership,” said Dhakal.

He also mentioned that a partnership between the Federation and Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology can be done in one and a half dozen areas. He said that arrangements can be made to collaborate on joint research projects, work on curriculum development with practical experiences from industries, create opportunities for students to work in internships and companies, and transfer new technologies to industries for commercialization.

Similarly, President Dhakal shared that the federation is not only a professional organization but also a think tank that advises the government and stakeholders adding that establishing business incubators, accelerators, innovation centers, and world-class testing laboratories in public-private-university partnerships will help to increase the country’s exports.
