'First Rock Climbing Festival 2023' concluded in Dolakha

DOLAKHA, June 06:In Sokla village, the "Rock Climbing Festival 2023" has been finished. The Soklashwari Tourism Development Society hosted a two-day rock climbing festival.

The tagline "searching for resources, promoting adventure sports tourism" was used for the first time on June 1 and 2 in the district at Sokla village, which is 8 kilometers from the district headquarters in Charikot.

In launching the festival, Vice President of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Chandra Prasad Rizal stated that rock climbing activities will benefit Dolakha tourism. NTB has offered all possible support to market rock climbing as a product because it is a component of sport tourism.

Sokla village is particularly well-known for agro tourism, trekking, adventure tourism, bird watching, sightseeing in the Gourishankar range, and religious studies research.

Here in Satya Yuga, the Dildhungas, who came from Kalinchowk area to stop Tamakosi and make a lake, are still standing as history.

Dolakha Chief District Officer Komal Prasad Dhamala, Deputy Chief of Bhimeshwar Municipality Kamala Basnet, First Vice President of Village Tourism Promotion Forum Nepal (VITOF NEPAL), representatives of various political parties of the district, and social workers expressed their views praising the festival.

They also believe that the municipality of Bhimeshwar is a religious tourist destination, and that rock climbing will become a new tourist attraction.

According to Arjun Pakhreen, president of the society, the two-day festival was arranged with the goal of turning Sokla hamlet, which is 8 kilometers distant from the headquarters Charikot, a climbing sanctuary.

Currently, 3 routes of 25 meters climbing have been constructed in Sokla at a height of 400 meters.

In the Rock Climbing Festival, there was a substantial presence of local inhabitants, including students, scout team, Nepal Police, Tourism Police, Armed Police, and Nepal Army Team.
