Arju Long grain rice in market
KATHMANDU:The rice of Arju Rice Mill, operated by Birendra Bahadur Basnet, Managing Director of Buddha Air, has been in the market since Thursday.
The Rice Mill lunched the Long grain rice produced on Thursday at a press conference in Kathmandu.
Birendra Bahadur Basnet, the owner of the mill, said that the minimum price of the paddy produced by the farmers will be set and the payment will be made within two days after receiving the paddy. He said that he has been helping farmers for the past two decades. He said that the rice mill works to close the distance between farmers and consumers. He said that the rice mill has everything from harvesting to drying and storage.
He said that the mill has paid up to Rs 10 crore to farmers in two seasons. He said that now 4000 bigha farmers have joined and it is going to increase further. He mentioned that the mill does not buy paddy from farmers other than Nepali farmers. He claimed that mills will contribute to commercialization and income-oriented farming in the future.
He said that after processing the best long ram paddy produced in Nepal, Long grain ricewas brought to the market. Basnet said that compared to long grain rice currently in the market, it is less grainy and tasty. He said that Arju long grain rice is available in Kathmandu and other markets for 130 rupees per kg.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Head of Crop Development and Biodiversity Conservation Center. Ramkrishna Shrestha pointed out that there is a decrease in the production of food crops in Nepal and claimed that if the current situation continues, there will be an extreme food crisis in the country. He also said that the government is making various efforts to solve the problem.
