Country's economy is in crisis; let us work together to solve it : FNCCI Senior VP Dhakal

KATHMANDU:Chandra Prasad Dhakal, senior vice-president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI), said a comprehensive national discussion is required to resolve the current economic crisis. Dhakal made such a proposal to the government during the 57th Annual General Meeting of the FNCCI on Tuesday.

He stated that the current situation should not worsen and that all parties should work together to resolve it. He stated that a road map for economic recovery should be developed with the participation of the government, the Nepal Rastra Bank, development partners, economists, and the private sector.

He stated that the country's economy is on the verge of a crisis and that it will not be difficult to solve the problem if all stakeholders act quickly.

He stated that it is possible to return a small economy like Nepal to normalcy within a few months if the government works with the private sector and prioritizes the economy. He stated that the Nepal Rastra Bank should implement tools to increase market liquidity and lower interest rates through flexible monetary policy. He stated that the private sector is the backbone of the economy and should be encouraged.
