Nabil Bank published the 'Greenhouse Gas Emission' report

KATHMANDU:Nabil Bank has published the 2022 Greenhouse Gas Emission Report.

The report was published by the bank from the loan and investment portfolio under the Infrastructure and Project Finance (IPF) branch.

The report was published as part of Nabil's 2021 Commitment to Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF).

The IPF portfolio includes investments and loans in energy, cement, airlines, telecommunications, and other commercial sectors.

The bank's sustainable banking campaign had set targets for measuring emissions from the loan and investment portfolio under the IPF arm.

According to the carbon emission assessment, total carbon dioxide emissions in 2022 will be 80,671 tons.

In addition, the investment in hydroelectricity and solar energy saved 2,131 tons of CO2 emissions.

Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana, the bank's CEO, stated that this is an important work to reduce the carbon footprint and sustain the portfolio, and that it is still actively being worked on.

We recognize that a collective effort is required for this. "We believe transparency is critical to achieving our goals, and we are committed to providing regular updates on our progress toward a net-zero carbon footprint," said CEO Dhungana.

Nabil is the country's first private sector bank, and it is regarded as a leader in financial service innovation and banking industry sustainability.

The bank stated that it will encourage its employees to practice sustainable practices in their daily lives both inside and outside of the office, and that they will gradually 'de-carbonize' their work by using clean energy sources.
