CAAN releases Buddha Air's plane which was grounded due to technical problems

KATHMANDU, March 20: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has released the Buddha Air's plane, which was grounded after a technical problem occurred during the Kathmandu-Surkhet flight on Saturday. Spokesperson Jagannath Niraula said that the CAAN has instructed the company to investigate the engineering error.

The air safety department said that there was a problem with the air speed indicator. According to the opinion given by the department, one engineer involved in the maintenance of this ship has been grounded," said Niraula, the spokesperson, "the company has been instructed to investigate. Further action will be taken based on that.

The air speed indicator 'ASI' problem occurred in the Buddha Air plane that landed in Kathmandu while flying on Saturday.

It is said that out of the three ASIs installed in the ATR plane, one will remain on stand-by and there is a manual that can fly for three days even if there is a problem with one.

On Saturday's flight, after the indication was found to be shaken, the pilot landed the plane again in Kathmandu.

A plane has a static port and a pitot tube. The plane takes in air with the help of two instruments. It determines the speed by calculating the plane's air pressure. Under this, the ground speed and airspeed required by the plane are balanced," said a technician of the CAAN.
