FNCCI Senior VP Dhakal's demand to amend the Black Market Act

FNCCI Senior VP Dhakal's demand to amend the Black Market Act

KATHMANDU:Chandra Prasad Dhakal, senior vice-president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), has said that the age-old Black Market Act should be changed and brought together with the Consumer Protection Act.

In a program held on Wednesday in Kathmandu to commemorate World Consumer Rights Day, he stated that while consumers are protected under the Consumer Protection Act of 2075, it discourages production and distribution to some extent.

Senior Vice President Dhakal stated that the country's constitution protects consumer rights and that it is the responsibility of manufacturers and suppliers to provide goods and services that are in the best interests of the consumers.

He stated that the government will receive revenue from private sector production and distribution, but that the revenue collection is very low in comparison to last year's revenue and the current revenue target.

He proposed amending the Black Market Act and the Consumer Protection Act to eliminate goods and services syndicates and improve quality.

Senior Vice President Dhakal also expressed the FNCCI's commitment to prioritizing the code of conduct.
