Initiative to extend the stay of tourists visiting Pokhara

POKHARA, March 10: The speaker at a program organized by Tourism Entrepreneur Women's Association Nepal (TEWAN) on the occasion of International Women's Day emphasized the importance of extending the stay of tourists visiting Pokhara. They stated that Myagdi's potential should also be explored.

On the occasion of the 113th International Women's Day, a team from TEWAN Pokhara arrived in Beni, Myagdi, with a tourism promotion program on Wednesday. Anandraj Mulmi, former central president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), recalled the history of taking copper from Myagdi copper mines in the past, and said that they did not pay attention to the utilization of those resources, during a program organized by the district coordination committee. He claimed that the Myagdi Chantyal caste has expertise in copper mining.

Mulmi mentioned that Myagdi is also known for its valuable plants, and that in addition to aloes, Angere Myagdi, which is used to make Japanese rupees, can be found in a variety of locations. When discussing the need for economic transformation in society, he emphasized the importance of developing entrepreneurship in order to increase economic capacity.

Sanjay Kant Sigdel, Secretary General of the Pokhara Tourism Council, stated that Myagdi's tourism relationship should be linked with Pokhara. He stated that it is necessary to increase local income by emphasizing promotion and tourism-focused programs, as well as the development of existing infrastructure. "Since the construction of Pokhara International Airport, international marketing of potatoes, apples, oranges, timurs, alloca cloths, fapar, and other products produced in Myagdi and Mustang is required," he said.
