Global Tourism Promotion Council to host Holi and La Tomatina Festival

KATHMANDU, March 05: The Global Tourism Promotion Council will host the Spanish La Tomatina Festival and the Nepalese Holi Festival in order to promote tourism and attract the younger generation to the tourism.

In a press conference held to inform about the program, the chairman of the council, Dharmendra Sapkota, said that such a festival will help to exchange Nepali culture with foreign culture.

President Sapkota refuted the charge that other cultures were being introduced, saying that it was an opportunity to share and learn about other cultures.

Sapkota says that such programs will increase the brotherhood of the two countries.

He claimed that when the Nepal Tourism Board could not organize such programs due to some of its constraints, such programs organized by the private sector would prolong the stay of tourists.

Chairman Sapkota said that the council is ready to organize such programs not only in Nepal but also abroad.

The council said that it will also purchase the tomatoes required for the festival directly from the farmers. Women's kabaddi is also going to be organized as a competition in the festival.

According to the organizer, the program will start on March 6th at Nepal Scout Lainchaur at 12 noon.
