Hotel Association Pokhara Nepal urges China to put Nepal in its tourist destination list

POKHARA, Feb 05: Hotel Association Pokhara Nepal has urged the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu to include Nepal in the list of destination countries.

Laxman Subedi, president of the association, while presenting a letter of request to the Chinese ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, mentioned that China's publication of the list of destination countries was taken positively when the Covid-19 was getting worse.

It is mentioned in the request letter that Nepali tourism entrepreneur are ready and hopeful to welcome Chinese tourists in 2023 when Nepal is not included in the list of 20 destination countries publicized by China.

After a gap of about three years of suspension of travel due to Covid, the arrangement according to the list published by China will be implemented from next Monday. In a letter written to the embassy, it is requested to reconsider the list of countries published and include Nepal in it.

It is believed that if Nepal can be included in the list, it will help in reviving the Nepali tourism which has been affected by the Covid-19 and the centuries old relationship between the two countries will be further strengthened.

Reminding that Nepal is naturally beautiful and culturally and historically rich for travel, the association said in the letter that the climate here is also suitable for Chinese tourists.

It is mentioned in the letter that when Chinese tourists came to Nepal in the past, they liked Paragliding in Pokhara very much and they also participated in activities like trekking and mountain climbing.

It was also mentioned in the letter that all necessary facilities for Chinese tourists are available in Pokhara and Pokhara International Airport, which was built by China CAMC Engineering Company with concessional loan assistance from China's Exim Bank, was inaugurated on the 15th of January.

Subedi, president of the association, informed that the ambassador gave a positive response to the association's letter. In relation to the letter, Subedi informed that the Chinese ambassador has assured that Nepal will soon be included in the destination list and that China is positive towards Pokhara and Nepal.
