Yeti airlines plane crashes in Pokhara

KATHMANDU, Jan 15:The aircraft of model 9N ANC ATR72, flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara, crashed during landing in the gorge of Seti river. The pilot, Kamal KC, narrowly avoided the settlement area near the Airport. There were 72 passengers with 15 foreigners on board, among which 40 bodies have been recovered, while rescue operations are still going on. There were five Indians, four Russians and two Koreans along with one passenger each from Ireland, Australia, Argentina and France, on board the airplane. 

Prime Minister Puspa Kamal Dahal  has called an emergency cabinet meeting to continue rescue efforts, while about 200 soldiers are deployed to the crash site. Multiple people including Chief District Officer of the Kaski district Tek Bahadur KC,  Yeti Airlines’ spokesperson Sudarshan Bartaula, and an army spokesperson on the site have given statements regarding condolences and rescue operations. 

The plane has broken into pieces and the soldiers predict more bodies to be found. There are also videos of the plane flying near the airport area and making a sharp turn towards the gorge.
