Calibration flight of Pokhara International Airport completed

POKHARA, Nov 28: The calibration (mechanical test) flight has been completed at Pokhara Regional International Airport.

A plane of Thailand's Aero Thai Company made a calibration flight at the airport from November 21-November 27.

According to the airport, 4 technologies and equipment were tested in the mechanical test of the airport.

Vinesh Munakarmi, the head of the airport project, informed that the main tests of DIVOR, ILS, DMI and PAPI of the airport were conducted within a week.

According to him, during the seven-day calibration flight, the condition of the communication, ground system, tower, radio frequency, navigation, surveillance, communication, control tower and other equipment installed at the airport was checked and whether they worked/did not work.

After completing the calibration flight, Aero Thai will submit a report in the next few days. According to the information officer of the authority, Gyanendra Bhul, a test flight will be conducted at the new airport based on the same report.

According to him, the company has said that it will submit the report in two weeks at the most.

He said  'After the report comes, the airport will have a test flight'. 'After the report that the test flight is successful, the companies will get permission for international commercial flights at the airport.'

The government has already decided to start commercial flights at Pokhara International Airport from January 1, 2023 .
