Nepal's first step in Olympic Level Motorsports via FIA
KATHMANDU, Nov 13: Fia motorsport games is a recently developed Olympic Level Racing event that started in 2019.
This year on Oct 26-31, it was organized again with 70 nations coming together in Marseille, France. Nepal also expressed its participation this time showing commendable performance. Team captain Anil Baral joined Jiswan Tuladhar Shrestha for the Auto Slalom and placed 23rd while Diprash Shakya participated in the Karting Sprint Senior.
Despite no major victories, the major accomplishment here is simply the fact that Nepal could participate in such a prestigious event for the first time without even having proper tracks to practice on. This victory was well celebrated by the various motorsports enthusiasts in Nepal along with the president of Nepal Automobiles' Association (NASA Nepal) wishing the participants further success, along with. The winner of the event turned out to be Italy with three gold and one silver medal.
This will hopefully arise a new hopeful generation which could seek to participate in such events even more. This can be a new field that Nepal can venture into. Even now, there are bike/car meet ups being organized in the valley area which can inspire Nepali racers to continue honing their skill. This event is held every two years, so we are hopeful that Nepal will give another energetic performance in 2024.
