Meeting of CAAN-NAC representatives with Minister of Tourism on case of flight cancels

KATHMANDU, Nov 01: On Monday, a discussion was held between the representatives of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) along with Tourism Minister Jeevan Ram Shrestha regarding the cancellation of the flight schedule.

An official said that in Monday's ministerial meeting, the corporation will fly from Bhairahawa only after it is approved by the board of directors.

'Domestic Office is ready. We will extend this for international flights. Being a ground handling service provider, a one-stage setup has been prepared,' said , 'Commercial setup is yet to be done. We will proceed with the process after the approval of the board of directors.'

He informed that it is yet to be decided what type of flight will be conducted from the new airport to base or touchdown.

On Sunday, the Kathmandu-Delhi flight of NAC was stopped on the grounds that the flight was against the winter schedule issued by CAAN. On the other hand, NAC said that they did not give a deadline until December 30 for preliminary preparations.

Foreign airlines have been given a reasonable time to fly from Bhairahawa. The reason for putting pressure on the airline of our own country in this way could not be understood, said the official.

Tourism Minister Shrestha has said that there is a lack of coordination between NAC and CAAN. He said that it is necessary to coordinate with the ministry in the decision made by the state. According to NAC, according to the winter schedule issued by CAAN, out of the total 14 flights through TIA, only 10 flights per week have been arranged.

CAAN has already written to international airlines including Air Arabia, Fly Dubai, Qatar Airways to fly from Bhairahawa with effect from December 16.
