Nepal to sign air service pacts with United States

 

KATHMANDU, Oct 09: Nepal is preparing to sign a bilateral air service agreements (ASAs) with the United States while expanding the international air network.

Nepal, which has bilateral air agreements with 40 countries of the world, has prepared air agreements with countries including America, Switzerland, Indonesia, Ruwanda.

Budhisagar Lamichhane, Chief and Joint Secretary of the Civil Aviation Division of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, informed that the necessary procedures for bilateral air service agreements with various countries, including the US, have been initiated.

He said, 'America has shown interest in the air contract. We are preparing to conclude an air contract with that country soon.'

Nepal currently has bilateral air agreements with 41 countries including 40 countries and the European Union (EU). Out of these 20 destinations have international flights. The government last signed a bilateral air services agreement with Australia.

After the air agreement with America, it is said that United Airlines of America, American Airlines, National flag carrier Nepal Airline Corporation (Nepal Airlines) and Himalaya Airlines can fly on behalf of Nepal.

At present, international airlines including Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Thai Air are providing Nepal-US flight services through various transits in Nepal.
