NTB partners with UNFPA to empower women in tourism and promote inclusivity
KATHMANDU, Jan 29:Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) officials met on Monday to enhance women’s empowerment by fostering a safe and inclusive environment in Nepal’s tourism sector. The initiative underscores Nepal’s commitment to adopting best practices and global standards in responsible and inclusive tourism by partnering and implementing programs with organizations and institutions which have similar goals.
The discussions centered on strengthening education, imparting training, and supporting decent workplace policies that enhance safety and gender equality. By raising awareness and equipping employers and employees with the necessary tools and knowledge, the initiative aims to strengthen Nepal’s commitment to responsible and inclusive tourism practices.
This collaboration represents a notable initiative towards empowering women and fostering a tourism sector that thrives on equality, respect, and shared growth.
The meeting was attended by NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi, NTB Senior Director Nandini Lahe-Thapa, NTB Senior Manager Bimal Kadel, UNFPA Nepal Country Representative Won Young Hong, New Zealand Honorary Consul to Nepal Ms. Lisa Choegyal, Gender and Human Rights Specialist Kamala Khatri Bisht, and Programme Associate for Diversity and Inclusion Reshmi Sunar.
