Service charges for Pokhara and Gautam Buddha airports eliminated
KATHMANDU, Jan 24:The procedure to operate Pokhara and Gautam Buddha International Airports was adopted at a Cabinet meeting around six months ago.
The Cabinet meeting on August 12 approved the method for operating the airports and, ultimately, enacted the exemptions granted for airport operations.
The policy, which was aimed to entice airlines running international flights, states that the Rs 3,000 passenger fee imposed on International flights departing from Pokhara International Airport and Gautam Buddha International Airport will be waived till September 17, 2026.
Although the approved procedure specified that it would be implemented within 7 days, the decision took almost six months to implement.
Binod Prakash Singh, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, stated that the decision to eliminate the service fee imposed to passengers at airports has been implemented.
With this decision, airfares for passengers flying internationally from those airports will be reduce by Rs 3, 000.
