Hotel Association Nepal successfully celebrated second Nepal Hospitality Day
KATHMANDU, Jan 17:The Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) commemorated Nepal Hospitality Day 2025 on Magh 2 (January 15), the anniversary of its establishment.
Binayak Shah, President of the HAN, stated that the Hospitality Day, which began last year, will be observed annually. President Shah stated that on this day, the hotel sector's achievements, challenges, and future plans and programs will be presented, and the hotel sector will reflect on the prosperity that has been and can be achieved through the country, people, economic development, and overall tourism.
He stated that, according to data recently issued by the National Statistics Office, Nepal has over 142,000 hotels and restaurants in operation, more than 116,000 hotel rooms, and restaurants capable of serving 2.2 million customers.
He stated that the fact that hotels opening almost every month and that international brand hotels have developed the capacity to provide quality services to approximately 3.5 million tourist in Nepal indicates a growing supply situation in Nepal's tourism market, which is encouraging.
At the event, Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey, who was releasing the Nepal Hotel Year Book published by HAN, stated that such a reception day has importance because it brings together the entire tourism industry and stakeholders to clarify the country's overall tourism themes.
He stated that the state is closely monitoring the tourism sector, and that the ministry and the entire government are trying to improve the country's tourism infrastructure and enhance visitor flow. He also stated that tourism cannot be promoted without coordination with the private sector, and that the ministry has been working with the private sector on all activities.
The coordinators of the Visit Nepal Year organized at different times were also honored at the program. The honor was presented to Karna Shakya, coordinator of Visit Nepal Year 1998, Yogendra Shakya, coordinator of Nepal Tourism Year 2011, and Suraj Vaidya, coordinator of Visit Nepal Year 2020.
Chefs who have helped to promote local food in the country were also acknowledged, as were numerous sponsors who sponsored the event.
