Madi's Someswargadhi become a new tourist destination
CHITWAN, Jan 17:Someshwor Gadhi in Madi, Chitwan, is connected to the road network. The road connection to Someshworgadhi, a historical and religious site in Madi Municipality-5, has made it a new attraction for both domestic and foreign tourists.
The compulsion to hike uphill for three hours to get here has passed. The number of tourists who visit the fort has increased. According to Pitambar Pokharel, Chairman of the Someshworgadhi Conservation and Management Committee, the temple, located 11 kilometers from Basantapur, can now be visited in 30 minutes.
Chairman Pokharel stated that with the extension of the road network, the number of people visiting and picnicking at this location has greatly increased. The Chitwan National Park surrounds the Madi Valley on three sides, with Someshwar Mountain to the south.
The fort, built by then-King Mukunda Sen of Palpa to protect himself against the British, is developing as a tourist destination as well as a historical religious site for Nepal and India.
Every year, devotees flock here to worship on Ram Navami. Someshwor Kalika Temple is a Shaktipeeth that reside Lord Mahadev and Kali.
Under the initiative of Madi Municipality, national-level sculptors carved around 50 statues of various gods and goddesses on stones in Someshwor Gadhi, 50 kilometers from Bharatpur.
