Hotel and restaurant sector contributes more than Rs 1 trillion to Nepal's economy

KATHMANDU, Jan 16:As per the results of the National Statistics Office's first Integrated National Hotel and Restaurant Survey, 2080, Nepal's hotel and restaurant industry contributes 109.27 billion rupees to the nation's economy annually.

According to this survey, which is based on data from the fiscal year 2079/80, there are 142,223 lodging and food service establishments in the country. These businesses employ 387,747 people, of whom 106,459 are salaried employees.

According to the survey findings, this industry provided services worth 326.14 billion rupees while incurring costs of 216.73 billion rupees.

According to the survey, the hotel and restaurant industry's fixed assets are 543.25 billion rupees.

According to the survey, 20.61 billion rupees were spent on salaries, bonuses, and employee and worker benefits in hotels and restaurants. Approximately 28.4 percent of establishments in this industry have taken loans from financial institutions, while 71.6 percent operate without loans.
This survey covers a wider area than the 2060 Hotel and Lodge Survey. The list includes star hotels, non-star hotels, resorts, lodges, homestays, guesthouses, hostels, restaurants, and catering/party palaces, according to the office.
