Mercure Kathmandu Hotel: Inaugurated Accor's first French hospitality brand in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Jan 15:The five-star hotel 'Mercure Kathmandu Sukedhara Heights'' has opened. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the five-star hotel 'Mercure Kathmandu Sukedhara Heights' in Kathmandu, on January 15.

Deshbandhu Basnet, a tourism entrepreneur, invested Rs 3 billion on the hotel, which is now managed by the French hotel management business Accor Group.

The hotel will be handled by the Mercure brand, which is part of the international company Accor Group. Basnet said that Accor Group is entering Nepal for the first time in the management of The Metropolitan Hotel Pvt. Ltd.

At the hotel's inaugural ceremony, Prime Minister Oli expressed confidence that the hotel will help to attract French tourists to Nepal. He expected to add a new flavor to the hotel sector and support it.Oli stated that the government will support the growth and promotion of this sector.

The 11-story five-star hotel also features 104 elegantly designed rooms, catering to modern travelers seeking authentic experiences. Guests can savor gourmet delights at the Indian specialty restaurant, unwind at the inviting lobby bar, and rejuvenate at the state-of-the-art fitness center. The rooftop infinity pool, offering panoramic views, adds a touch of luxury to the experience.

Ideally located in Sukedhara Heights, just 4 kilometers from Tribhuvan International Airport, Mercure Kathmandu is close to key landmarks such as Boudhanath Stupa, Thamel, and Durbarmarg. Its strategic position makes it a prime choice for both leisure and business travelers.

Additionally, the hotel’s offerings include versatile ballrooms and venues perfect for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE), alongside proximity to embassies and bustling shopping hubs, ensuring convenience and connectivity.

This project was led by the Metropolitan Hotel Private Limited (TMHPL) under the leadership of Desh Bandhu Basnet, Bijaya B. Malla, and Rajendra Raut, the project reflects a synergy of global expertise and local entrepreneurship, as these esteemed business leaders are also prominent members of FNCCI and SAARC Chamber of Commerce.

Mercure Kathmandu Sukedhara Heights is going to enhance Nepal's tourism sector by providing a luxurious and refined experience for both local residents and international travelers, while holding onto the vibrant cultural heritage of Nepal.
