Hotels and homestays added to Sikles
POKHARA, Jan 15:A hotel and homestay have been added to the tourist village of Sikles in Kaski. As a result, it can accommodate 2,500 foreign and domestic tourists in one night. Devijang Gurung, the Ward Chairman of Madi Rural Municipality-1, stated that there are 36 homestays and 47 hotels.
According to Gurung, the current charge for the village's homestay package is Rs 1,100 per tourist, which includes one night's dinner and Rs 1,400 for the hotel. He claims that on public holidays, between 1,500 and 2,000 people visit his community. CCTV cameras have been put in 64 locations throughout the village to ensure its peace and security.
Sikles Youth Club Chairman Bholaman Gurung said that it is difficult to reach many tourists even though they want to serve local products and organic food of the village. He stated that in order to preserve the art and culture of the Sikles region, a Sikles Cultural Group will be formed, and cooperation will be done with hotels, homestays, and mother groups on subjects such as Ghattu and Krishna Charitra.
He said: "Since it has become a living museum of Gurung art and culture, the last state of the Gurung tribe, Kholasanthar, can be reached in a day from here, in recent times, people from home and abroad have been coming to Sikles to study and research the Gurung tribe."
According to Devi Jung Gurung, the club's advisor, tourists come from Sikles for treks to Kapuche Glacier Lake and Kori. He also stated that the Sikles Eco Museum is an essential place for the study of Gurung culture, as it can display materials that vividly portray Gurung clothing, lifestyles, and traditions.
