Tourism Minister Pandey meets with BIMSTEC Secretary General Pandey
KATHMANDU, Jan 10:Badri Prasad Pandey, Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, and Indramani Pandey, Secretary General of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), met at the Ministry of Tourism on Wednesday. The delegation, led by Secretary General Pandey and Minister Pandey, met at the Ministry of Tourism on Wednesday.
During the meeting, issues such as visa facilitation among BIMSTEC countries and the development of tourism infrastructure in religious, cultural, and tourism circuits were discussed.
During the meeting, Minister Pandey also requested assistance in boosting the BIMSTEC Tourism Fund and ensuring its successful implementation.
He emphasized the importance of affiliation and mutual exchange among BIMSTEC member countries' tourist boards in order to elevate Nepal's aviation sector to the international stage.
Minister Pandey remarked that SAARC is inactive due to the inaction of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Secretariat, and urged the BIMSTEC Secretariat to become more active and effective.
