KATHMANDU: The Nepal Remitters Association, in partnership with Nepal Rastra Bank, held a one-day workshop in Kathmandu to mark the "International Day of Family Remittance".

A working paper on various remittance-related topics was given at the session, which was attended by remittance companies as well as banks and financial institutions that handle remittances.

Dr. Neelam Dhungana Timsina, Acting Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, was the seminar's keynote speaker. Chandra Tandon, President of the Nepal Remitters Association, chaired the session.

The chief guest, Timsina, stated that everyone should take the effort to transmit remittances legally and progress them towards digitization, and that Nepal Rastra Bank is always willing to collaborate with the Nepal Remitters Association on remittance-related issues.

According to Nepal Remitters Association President Chandra Tandon, if remittance companies, banks, and financial institutions that handle remittances can compete effectively, remittances will increase, foreign exchange reserves will increase, and the income of remittance companies, banks, and financial institutions that handle remittances will increase, resulting in a significant increase in revenue contribution, and everyone's attention must be paid to this.

During the session, the association's former president, Suman Pokharel, discussed the present state of remittances and the need for improvements by remittance businesses and regulatory organizations.

Tulsi Prasad Ghimire, Executive Director of the Foreign Exchange Management Department of Nepal Rastra Bank and Ram Bahadur Manandhar, Executive Director of the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Supervision Department of Nepal Rastra Bank, Ritesh Mittal, Vice President of the Nepal Remitters Association, and Sanjay Sigdel, General Secretary, have expressed their views on the contemporary issue of remittance.
