Airfares between Nepal and South Korea reduced

KATHMANDU, Jan 09:Various Nepali organizations in South Korea have welcomed the plan to lower airfares between Nepal and South Korea. The organizations thanked the Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, and other officials for taking the initiative on this decision.

According to a statement from South Korea's Public Relations Committee, organizations working there have been speaking out against the extremely high fares caused by middlemen and have expressed special gratitude for initiatives taken by Tourism Minister Pandey, Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa, and others.

The organizations said in a statement issued via Facebook: "Due to the memorandums, requests, and special initiatives of General Secretary Thapa and Tourism Minister Pandey, the middlemen in the air ticket sales tender for Korea have been eliminated and the fare has now been fixed at Rs. 54,000, which has brought great relief to the workers coming to Korea."

The statement issued continued: "We express our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey, other ministries, and all the concerned bodies and officials who have taken this initiative and made every effort to provide relief."

In a interaction program organized by the Nepali Public Relations Committee in South Korea on July 28, 2024, Nepal Airlines was highlighted for the fact that workers going to Korea have been severely impacted by high airfares, and Nepal Airlines was asked to provide flights to Korea or other options. The statement recalled that General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa frequently raised his voice at the House of Representatives meeting on August 13, bringing the attention of the relevant entities, in keeping with his vow to take the initiative to settle this issue in any way feasible.
