Highest number of Tourist in Annapurna region in 2024

POKHARA, Jna 09:In 2024, the world-famous trekking destination Annapurna area had 244,045 foreign tourists. 132,094 were from South Asian countries, while 111,951 were from other countries. According to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), this is the highest number ever.

The previous peak number of tourists was 191,558 in 2023. The region welcomed 181,000 tourists in 2019, although the number has since declined because to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, 16,155 tourists came to the Annapurna region in 2021. The next year, 129,733 tourists visited the area.

Dr. Robin Kadariya, the head of ACAP, stated that tourism in the region has resumed its normal pace since last year. He stated that the number of tourists has climbed greatly compared to the previous year, and that a new record for tourist arrivals in the Annapurna region was reached in 2024. Every year, millions of domestic and foreign tourists visit Annapurna Base Camp, Mardi Himal, Ghandruk, Tilicho Lake in Manang, Thorangla pass, Upper Mustang, the Muktinath area, Ghodepani in Myagdi, and other Annapurna Circuit Trek locations.

The Annapurna Conservation Area Project only collects data on foreign tourists that visit these places. The Annapurna Conservation Area, which spans 7,600 square kilometers, is a popular trekking destination.
