Helicopter flights resumed in Khumbu Region

SOLUKHUMBU, Jan 08:Helicopter company will be allowed to operate helicopters in the Khumbu region.

The Sagarmatha National Park has consented to allow helicopter flights in the Khumbu region while preserving the forests, wildlife, and biodiversity.

The park and the rural municipality had decided to ban helicopters from January 1st, allowing them to make essential flights with permission, but not commercial flights.

The Sagarmatha National Park was compelled to reverse its previous decision after the operators opted to suspend even critical flights.

On Monday, the District Administration Office in Solukhumbu voiced worry about the red flag hoisted on the Sagarmatha helipad.

The District Administration Office had warned that strict action would be taken against those who obstructed helicopter flights operating according to the rules, saying that it would cause problems in disaster relief, patient rescue, tourism promotion, etc.
