Nepal Telecom's CSR: From providing free internet in schools to promoting greenery

KATHMANDU:Nepal Telecom's Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives have included a variety of programs.

The company has been carrying out a greenery conservation and tree planting campaign on the road portion from Maitighar to Tinkune in Kathmandu as part of the Greenery Conservation and Tree Plantation campaign. The company is carrying out beauty enhancement tasks such as planting seasonal flower seedlings and shrubs, weeding, and pruning.

The company has provided furniture, computers, backpacks, and tracksuits to several community schools across the country.

It has also reported that it has donated sanitary pad vending devices to 1/1 community schools in 20 districts to promote women's health.

Under the Environmental Cleanliness Program, the telecom has distributed dustbins as needed in major public spaces like as religious monasteries, archaeological and tourism sites, bus parks, public parks, and gardens.

Food, warm clothes, and blankets have been distributed to old age homes, children's homes, institutes for the protection of individuals with disabilities, and community centers across all seven provinces.

Telecom has given bed-cum-chairs to make it easier for patients who visit Bir Hospital to rest.

Telecom has supplied 50 Mbps speed FTTH internet for one year free of charge to 100 community schools across the country that have received fiber internet connectivity.

Similarly, it has been said that it has supplied a free one-year 4G internet plan with Namaste WiFi (WBB) router to 50 community schools in all seven provinces that do not have FTTH service.

Telecom has set up free online learning opportunities for students preparing for SEE.

In addition, as part of its social obligation, the telecom has been providing free prepaid SIM cards with special packages to people with disabilities.
