Hoteliers demand business operates till late at night

DANG, Oct 22:Hotel entrepreneurs in Tulsipur have urged that the local administration permit hotels to operate till 11:00 p.m.

They argued that because hoteliers had difficulty after the Covid-19, the time restriction for operating hotels should be extended till 11:00 p.m.

Tuphan KC, the proprietor of Kumakh Café, stated that the hotel industry, which was severely impacted by Covid-19, is gradually returning to normal. So the government should be supportive of the hotel industry."

Although the District Administration Office had granted hoteliers written permission to conduct business until 11:00 p.m., the security agency has been closing the hotels at 9:00 p.m. The forced shutdown of hotels has had a severe impact on commerce, according to KC.

If hoteliers were allowed to stay open until midnight, it would make things easier for new guests from other cities. The hoteliers suggested that the local administration might take this issue seriously.

Binil KC, chair of the FNCCI district chapter, agreed with the hoteliers that closing the hotels at 9:00 p.m. was inappropriate on the side of police. He further stated that no decision had been reached in this regard.

However, Anil Thakuri, Tulsipur's Deputy Superintendent of Police, disputed that all hotels had been closed. He insisted that only pubs were required to close by 9:00 p.m. "Those running in a good manner were not intervened, but pubs are not permitted to open after 9:00," DSP Thakuri stated. The inns are shuttered due to the possibility of criminal activity following the celebrations.

Similarly, Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Lamsal stated, "The local administration can allow businesses to operate as needed." Tulsipur has more than 500 hotel entrepreneurs.

He also stressed that the local administration might make decisions based on security. Until now, no separate decision has been made on the hotel's operating term.
