Shyam Bahadur Pandey, Founder of Shangri-La Hotel passes away

KATHMANDU, July 22:Shyam Bahadur Pandey, founder and chairman of the five-star Shangri-La Hotel in Lazimpat, has died.

Pandey died on Monday, aged 88, in Grandi Hospital. He had been suffering from health problems for several years and had spent over 60 years working to grow and advance the tourism and hotel industries.

Pandey, a "legend" in the hotel sector, worked actively for over six decades. Pandey founded Shangri-La Hotel four decades ago.

According to family sources, Pandey's remains will be held at his home till 2 p.m. to pay his final respects. After then, cremation will take place at Pashupati Aryaghat around 4 p.m.

Pandey has a wife, two son, and one daughter.
