POKHARA, June 06:The 74-year ascent of Mount Annapurna has been completed. On the 74th Annapurna Day, which was celebrated in Pokhara, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha honored  to Dawa Yangzum Sherpa, Lakpa Dendi Sherpa, and Purnima Shrestha.

Dawa Yangzum Sherpa holds the distinction of being the first female mountain guide license holder from Asia. The accolade was bestowed upon him in appreciation of his contributions to the climbing community. Thirteen of the fourteen peaks in the world that are higher than 8,000 meters have been successfully climbed by Sherpas.

Born in Dolakha Rolwaling, she has yet to summit Mt Shishapangma. With the ascent of Shishapangma, she will become the first woman to summit 14 peaks higher than 8,000 in the world..

In just ten days, the world record mountaineer Lakpa Dendi Sherpa accomplished the feat of climbing Mount Everest three times, earning a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. For the eleventh time, he has ascended Mount Everest successfully.

Sherpa became the fastest person to climb Mount Everest in the spring of 2018, making history in the Guinness Book of World Records. In addition to Lhotse, he has successfully scaled Mt. Everest, Mt. Manaslu, K2, Nanga Parbat, Dhaulagiri, and Kanchenjunga. He has also scaled Mount Manaslu and Nanga Parbat without using oxygen.

Purnima Shrestha, a photojournalist and mountaineer , broke the record for ascending Mount Everest three times in a single climbing season this spring by reaching the summit of the globe three times in 13 days. This was Purnima’s fourth ascent to Everest. She ascend Everest for the first time in 2018. She has scaled mountains such as Makalu, Mount K2, Manaslu, Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, and Makalu.
