Nepal Warehousing launches grain storage services in Parsa

KATHMANDU:The service of safely storing farmer-produced grain has launched in Parsa. Nepal Warehousing Company Limited has launched this service in Biruwaguthi, Parsa.

The company organized a corporate meeting in Birgunj on Friday to inform about this matter. During the event, company president Anand Bagaria stated that the company has previously built grain storage facilities in Gadhi, Sunsari, and Birpur, Kapilvastu, in addition to Parsa. He stated that the overall capacity of these three storage facilities is 55,000 metric tons. "We have constructed and put into operation the highest capacity warehouse in Parsa," Chairman Bagaria stated in the program, "Parsa has a capacity of 25 thousand metric tons and Sunsari and Kapilvastu have a capacity of 15/15 thousand metric tons."

According to the company's general manager, Samirraj Satyal, these warehouses can hold a variety of grains, including wheat, corn, and soybeans. He stated that these storage facilities can be used by the food sector, traders, and farmers.

A loan can also be obtained by pledging grain kept in a warehouse. The company thinks that this facility will relieve farmers of having to sell their produce at the trader's pricing.

General Manager Satyal stated that due to a lack of storage space, farmers are obliged to sell their products at low prices established by dealers, and there are frequent instances of rotting vegetables and fruits being consumed by livestock.

He stated, "You can always sell the grain stored safely in the warehouse for a reasonable price. Farmers who do not have storage infrastructure will gain significantly from this.

The company will also offer auction promotion services for grains for sale. Farmers also appear to gain from this. Satyal stated that the company offers services such as high-technology agricultural product processing, arrangements for accepting loans from financial institutions on stored product collateral, and the provision of seeds, fertilizers, medications, and equipment to farmers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Jagdish Prasad Agarwal, the company's investor and chairman of Nimbus Group, stated that the importance of storage buildings has grown even more in the current circumstances, with the world's attention focused on food safety.
