More than ten thousand tourists visited Rara

KATHMANDU, May 27:More than ten thousand tourists have visited Rara in 10 months to visit Rara.

Between Shrawan and Baisakh, 10,579 tourists visited Rara Lake. There were 10,341 domestic tourists, 43 from SAARC nations, and 195 from other foreign countries. 

According to Rara National Park hutu  Office Information Officer Jaihari Dhital, the majority of domestic tourists visit Rara during the Dashain-Tihar holidays.

This current fiscal year, the biggest number of tourists (3,492) visited Rara during the month of Kartik. At least 126 people visited Rara in Shrawan.

By the end of the current year's Baisakh, the park had collected three million 63 thousand 791 in revenue from admission fees, boat ride fees, and other fees.

According to the park, tourists contributed 25 lakh 30 thousand of the revenue, with the remaining 5,33,781 coming from fines, firewood, and other sources.

In the previous fiscal year, 11,191 domestic visitors visited Rara. 26 SAARC nationals and 183 foreign tourists visited Rara.

The National Park charges an admission fee of 100 per person for domestic tourists visiting Rara, 1500 per person for tourists from SAARC countries, and 3000 per person for tourists from beyond SAARC countries.

A fee of 500 per person per boat ride has been collected, 20 percent of which is kept at the park office, 40 percent of the remaining 80 percent is kept by the boat driver and 40 percent by the intermediate area development committee.

Among those who visit Rara, 75 percent come by air and 25 percent by road. According to the residents, the arrival of tourists in Rara has not increased significantly due to the lack of reliable road and air.


In the Rara area, tourists complain that they have to suffer on the road due to the lack of convenient hotels and reliable roads. The tourism sector of Rara, which was affected by COVID-19, has flourished in 10 months of this year. For the tourists who come to visit Rara, since it is green from Jestha  to Ashoj, different types of flowers make Rara look more beautiful.

Tourists visit Rara from Baisakh to Bhadra to escape the heat and enjoy the greenery, from Ashoj to Mangsir to celebrate holidays, and from Poush to Chaitra to play in the snow and admire the Himalayas.
