Pokhara Tourism Council handed a memo to Prime Minister

KATHMANDU, March 17:The Pokhara Tourism Council (PTC) submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' addressing the demand for international flights from Pokhara international Airport.

The delegation, lead by the PTC's president, Pomnarayan Shrestha, met with the Prime Minister in Pokhara and handed over the memorandum to him.

The PTC has called that the major roadways connecting Pokhara were in dire condition, and that international flights from Pokhara international  Airport have yet to be regularized. The PTC has asked for an immediate start of international flights to and from Pokhara.

The memorandum states that tourism entrepreneur have suffered one crisis after another during the previous four years. According to the PTC, the economy's sluggishness has led to a decline in investment and employment.

Along with the restructuring of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), it has been urged that Pokhara be representation on the NTB Executive Board Member that is currently lying vacant.

It has been urged to promote international flights from Pokhara International Airport by offering packages with amenities to Nepal Airlines and other airlines.

Last year, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) halted the single paragliding flight after an accident occurred during the ninth national tournament, resulting in the death of an athlete.

The PTC stated in the memo  that the suspension of flights has an impact on the adventure sports players as they cannot conduct practice paragliding flights.
