CNI request to flights directly to China from Pokhara International Airport and Gautam Buddha International Airport

KATHMANDU, Feb 14:The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has demanded direct flights to China from Pokhara and Gautam Buddha International Airport. The CNI has made such a request to assist promote Nepalese tourism.

A meeting was held between CNI Chairman Rajesh Kumar Agarwal and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song. Chairman Agarwal made this request during the meeting.

During a session at the CNI Secretariat on Tuesday, Confederation President Rajesh Kumar Agarwal requested steps to attract Chinese investment and technology in tourism, information technology, hydropower, agriculture, physical infrastructure, and other areas.

While pushing the government to help send a group of Chinese investors to the investment conference in Baisakh, he stated that the Nepalese government will improve existing legislation to encourage investment. The CNI offered extensive ideas to the administration, as well as studies on the legal reforms that need be implemented for the overall development of the economy.

He asked to invest in Nepal's production sector, which is located between China and India, and take advantage of it. While informing that business discussions between the Nepal-China Business Council (Nepal China Business Council), which was established jointly by CNI and the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), are ongoing, he expressed his belief that Chinese investment in Nepal will be supported through the Council.

During the discussion, Chinese Ambassador Song stated that China prioritizes Nepal's prosperity. He stated that while Nepal cannot invest in all places at once, it should focus on identifying high-potential sectors and expanding production in such regions. He stated that while Nepal has a strong tourism potential, its infrastructure and services should be enhanced to attract tourists. He pledged to work closely with CNI, the umbrella body of Nepalese industrialists, to strengthen bilateral economic partnerships.

Former CNI president Haribhakta Sharma, vice president Nirwan Chaudhary, Hemraj Dhakal, governing council member Shivartan Sharda, office-bearer member Chhaya Sharma, CNI IT council chairman Ajit Vikram Shah, agriculture committee chairman Bikas Dugad, director general Deepak Raj Joshi, and others took part in the discussion.
