Hotel Heritage Bhaktapur: Embracing Nepal's Timeless Cultural Legacy

Nestled within the ancient city of Bhaktapur, Hotel Heritage Bhaktapur stands as a testament to Nepal's enduring heritage. This charming 3-star hotel is not merely a place to stay; it's a profound experience where authenticity and comfort coexist.

As you step through the doors of Hotel Heritage, you're transported back in time. The architecture is a fascinating blend of Nepalese Malla-era grandeur and the graceful touches of the Rana era. The hotel proudly features 350-year-old stones and bricks hailing from the Juddha Shamsher era, a historical treasure trove in itself. The old and aged windows, doors, and pillars are considered very valuable as they tell tales of our proud history.

While Hotel Heritage is deeply rooted in Nepal's cultural roots, it has earned a special place in the hearts of European visitors who visit during the peak seasons, from September to December and February to April, during which a souvenir shop selling various handicraft items is opened as well.

There are a total of 28 “Classic heritage rooms,” each with its own unique design, size, and shape. The rooms exude warmth and comfort, with beds ingeniously repurposed from pillars. Even the sofas are crafted from repurposed doors, emphasizing the commitment to eco-friendliness. Tiles and bricks are aged, not new, to maintain the authentic ambiance. Modern amenities like air conditioning, safety locks, hair dryers, and attached baths and showers seamlessly blend with traditional decor. Even the bathrobes, made by their own garment factory, add to the rich history of the hotel, which has been serving its guests since 2011.

Hotel Heritage's dedication to preserving heritage extends to its banquet and meeting halls. The main banquet hall seamlessly fuses Rana-era aesthetics with neo-classical style. It has specific wall sections that represent the eras of different Rana leaders, featuring their portraits and bricks from their era. The false ceiling featuring majestic chandeliers is inspired by Nepali mandala art. It can host up to 300 guests and is a preferred choice for corporate events and weddings.

The smaller “Mithila meeting hall” showcases Mithila-style art, with tables and walls adorned with custom-made works by artists from Janakpur. Art such as the 350-year-old painting represents the dedication of the hotel to featuring Nepali culture. It's perfect for intimate gatherings of up to 25 people.

In the coming months, a new Newari-only restaurant and a coffee bar will be unveiled. The leather-themed European-style Tribal Bar will reopen, boasting an eclectic fusion of modern and retro decor. Alongside the bar, the garden will feature live music and a live kitchen as well. Plans for an elevator, a swimming pool, additional rooms, and a spa are also in the pipeline, ensuring that Hotel Heritage continues to evolve while preserving the essence of Nepal's heritage. By the next year, these plans will be actualized, along with 15 new rooms in the new building.
