PADT establishes breastfeeding room on the Pashupatinath Temple premises.

KATHMANDU, Jan 10:A breast-feeding room has been established on the premises of Pashupatinath Temple.

Sushila Sirpali Thakuri, Minister of State for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, was inaugurated on Tuesday the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT)-built breastfeeding room for pilgrims from around the country.

She stated that such an arrangement was devised to alleviate the embarrassing circumstance of devotees traveling from across the country and abroad to breastfeed their children while sitting on the temple's pathway.

According to PADT Executive Director Laxmi Pun, breastfeeding moms who visit the temple with their infant children are no longer compelled to breastfeed their child on the pavement, in the office of security officers, or outside due to a lack of breastfeeding room.

Although the Safe Maternity and Reproductive Health Rights Act of 2075 requires all government and private offices to provide a breastfeeding space, this facility was not available in the Pashupati area.
