Six climbers scale virgin peak Chhopa Bamare for first time

DOLAKHA, Jan 05:Six climbers, including the chairman of Dolakha's Bigu Rural Municipality, have successfully ascended virgin peak Chhopa Bamare for the first time.

Six climbers scaled the 6,109-meter-high Mt. Chhopa Bamare in Dolakha for the first time. They successfully scaled the peak around 9 a.m. on December 29th.

Mt. Chhopa Bamare has been reached by a team led by Everest climber Lila Bahadur Basnet and Nima Galgen Sherpa. Lila Bahadur Basnet, Nima Galgen Sherpa, Phurba Thile Sherpa, Lakpa Geli Sherpa, Bhavendra Khadka, and Sanjiv Oli, Chairman of Bigu Rural Municipality, made up the squad.

Himalayan Shepherd Eco Trek and Expedition Director Aditya Bhusal stated that he ascended Mt. Chhopa Bamare to promote the peaks in Bigu Rural Municipality.

The climb is a collaboration between Himalayan Shepherd Eco Trek and Expedition and Bigu Municipality's Dolma Outdoor Expedition.

According to Rakesh Gurung, Director of the Department of Tourism's Adventure Tourism and Mountaineering Branch, the promotion of new peak (unclimbed) mountains, climbing of unclimbed peaks, increasing tourist activities, starting procedures for climbing new mountains, and encouraging climbers to climb virgin peaks that have also been opened are all priorities.
