International airport to operate on PPP model

KATHMANDU, Jan 03:Sudan Kirati, Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, has stated that all the four international airports, including Nijgadh, which will be built now, will be operated on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.

During the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN)'s 25th anniversary program on Sunday, Minister Kirati stated that Tribhuvan, Pokhara, Gautam Budh, and Nijgadh International Airports will be run on a PPP model.

The construction of the Nijgadh airport has not yet begun. The CAAN has proposed to manage three other airports to attract foreign investors to this airport.  This proposal has also been agreed by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Minister Kirati stated tthat the ministry and CAAN will proceed with the necessary process from today to adopt the PPP model in airport management. Tribhuvan, Pokhara and Gautam Buddha International Airports, which are currently in operation, are being managed by the CAAN.
